CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) holds the National Eligibility Test (NET) for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship (LS). Presently the examination is conducted (online mode only) by National Testing Agency (NTA) in June and December months each year.
The syllabus is divided in to following 13 units:
The question paper will be divided into three parts, (A, B & C) as per syllabus & scheme of examination:
Part-A: This part shall contain 20 questions pertaining to General Aptitude with emphasis on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison, series formation, puzzles etc. Out of 20 questions, students have to attempt 15 questions carrying 02 marks each (15 questions x 02 Marks each = 30 Marks).
Part-B: This section contains subject-related conventional Multiple Choice questions (MCQs), generally covering the topics given in the syllabus. The part-B is given with 50 Questions and student have to attempt 35 questions carrying 02 Marks each (35 Questions x 02 Marks each = 70 Marks).
Part-C: Shall contain higher value analytical questions that may test the candidate knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts. This section contains 75 Questions covering the whole syllabus and students have to attempt 25 Questions carrying 04 Marks each (25 Questions x 04 Marks each = 100 Marks).
The entire paper weights for 200 Marks (Part-A: 30 Marks, Part-B: 70 Marks and Part-C: 100 Marks).
Note: Negative marking (25percent) for wrong answers applicable as per scheme of Examination.
